Born in Venezuela, and schooled in Canada and UK, Thom Van Every initially trained and worked as a medical doctor in England, the Channel Islands and South Africa. Over many summers spent on holiday in the south of France visiting relatives near Cannes, Thom concocted stories for his children of a strict teacher who lived nearby in one of the villages. So Madame Giroux and the popular book 'The Strictest Teacher in All of France' was created. The book is also now translated into French verse.
