Tony J. Perri is a family man, a seeker of the arts in all media, a realist, a traveler, and a dreamer. His love for films had taken him to Hollywood where he worked for 15 years in the film and television industry in the costume department in a variety of movies and television shows, including the hit TV series, Sons of Anarchy.
As much as he loved working in the costume department, he wanted to go after his other dream of being a writer. He first started off writing screenplays where he co-wrote and co-directed an award winning independent feature film, a short film and a documentary.
But his passion was in writing books, particularly children's books. It wasn't until 3 years ago that he began his endeavor into the children's book world when his twin daughters gave him a piece of paper that had these weird made-up words on them. At the time, he just thought his girls were being funny and creative and so he just put the paper aside. Then months later, he came across that paper again, only this time he paid attention to it. Then suddenly, an idea for a children's book had come to him. It was his girls imagination and those weird made-up words that gave him the inspiration to write and publish his first children's book, the award winning Dilby R. Dixon's The Dilbonary.
The book focuses on anti-bullying, overcoming social awkwardness and using ones imagination and dreams to overcome such obstacles that kids face everyday in their young lives.
Having turned this book into a series, he is set to release the second book, Dilby R. Dixon's The Time Dreamer, in the fall of 2018. Also on the horizon, is his release of his first children's picture book, Ollie and The Wishing Stone, slated to release in late 2018.
Tony was born in Mesa, Arizona where he currently lives with his wife and twin daughters and two dogs. Tony can be found visiting elementary school where he talks about his book and the issues of bullying that the main character, Dilby R. Dixon, deals with.
