I grew up in Cardiff, South Wales. After leaving home, I studied history at Oxford University, worked as a teacher and in various office jobs, travelled, and studied anthropology, before pursuing my life long dream of writing. I live with my husband and three children - who in various ways have made the dream possible, and to whom I owe the deepest thanks. We have a kitten who does his best to leave his mark on my work by treading on the computer while I am writing.
A Fragment of Moonswood was my first book, followed by the other volumes of the Assalay Trilogy: The Singing War and Weatherlord. My completed fourth novel is still waiting in the wings, and I am working on my fifth.
When I'm not writing novels, I write song lyrics for the Da Capo Music Foundation.
