The Goatman is a young adult murder mystery that incorporates aspects of author Wallace Martin’s upbringing and career as a General/Thoracic Surgeon in North Georgia and the colorful, though damaged, characters surrounding him. Influenced by such literary greats as Harper Lee, Mark Twain, Flannery O’Connor, and Ernest Hemingway, Doc Martin had conceived of this story as a child after witnessing the mysterious itinerant Goat Man and only completed it decades later after being inspired by a writing course with Professor Richard Krevolin.
