Marky the Magnificent Fairy is written with the intent of eliciting back and forth discussions with children at home or in the classroom.
I had many conversations with both children and adults while creating this book. I am grateful that they were kind enough to share with me their personal stories of bullying, fear, anxiety, insecurities, and handicaps both visible and invisible. The stories were wide-ranging – however the lasting after effect was the same. But they also shared the kindness shown to them along the way of help, encouragement, support, and love. These were the most profound, healing, and precious memories long held on to.
This book is about diversity, inclusion, bullying, disabilities, kindness, believing in yourself, self-love, confidence, acceptance, positivity, and compassion. No matter what age you are.
The book includes a Resource Guide at the end provided by a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist and has been Endorsed.
Long Island, N.Y., January 8, 2023: Hindi’s Libraries is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2nd Annual Females of Fiction writing competition. This award recognizes outstanding female authors of children’s book who empower young readers with their stories, with each winning author receiving a $100 gift card donated by Barnes and Noble as well as award seals to add to their books. More than 220 authors across the globe (spanning from Australia, Canada, England, United States and Africa) participated in the nonprofit second annual literary contest.
“When we first launched the Females of Fiction contest, I assumed we’d receive 10 or 15 submissions from local authors who’ve partnered with us before. But to see that more than 200 authors from all parts of the world joined us in this year’s effort- it’s astonishing and heartwarming,” explained Hindi’s Libraries co-founder Leslie Gang.
Each author’s participation included a small entry fee as well as a copy of the writer’s book which was in turn donated to the organization’s recipients.
“We collected more than 350 books, as authors were extremely generous, and raised more than $7,500 towards our shipment costs- it’s truly remarkable,” continued Gang.
The judging panel consisted of six successful and notable women in the book industry including
Shelby King of Little Free Library, Ava Vitali of Scholastic, Araba Maze of Storybook Maze, children’s authors Dawn Menge and Kay B. Karishma, and Kaila Boulware Sykes of Hidden Gems Literary Emporium. In addition, a kids’ choice award was chosen by the children of Dr. Hindi Krinsky, the namesake of the organization.

All books are dedicated in memory of Dr. Hindi Krinsky, 32 year old educator and mother of 5 who suddenly passed away in August of 2018 due to complications from Crohn's disease.
