The first book in this new paranormal urban fantasy series is a mesmerizing and intriguing read. Cassie has paralyzing pain and abilities that no one can explain. So when a mysterious stranger straight out of her dreams spouts nonsense, she chalks it up as another thing to add to her crazy life list, but when the predictions start coming true her humdrum existence gets shaken to the core.

The steady to fast paced plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation as demons and angels try to control the key. The authors bring the story to life with well written scenes and details that bring the story to life and tension builds throughout as the danger and the persuasion techniques escalate. The characters are strong and compelling, easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Cassie and Gabe radiates heat from every page and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the romance sort of takes a backseat to the drama and suspense of the situation that Cassie finds herself in and while falling for Gabe is just what her heart does how can she choose when being pulled in a bunch of different directions, and then Gabe himself wants redemption, so that means he would be going home, wouldn’t he?

The authors have created a fascinating world of angels, fallen angels and demons with some unique elements and surprising twists. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as the drama unfolds and more characters get involved inspiring more curiosity. While the story dragged a little in a couple of places, it was not enough to take away from the drama and suspense and kept my attention to the very end. I was quite surprised with the major twist at the end and I can’t wait to read the next book.

She does have a weird purplish glow that emanates from her and she can’t control it, which brings along incapacitating pain. Later, after letting Gabe into her flat, he tells her that she needs to listen hard and seriously consider his comments about her future. He explains her true identity; that she is a Key and that demons and fallen angels are out to get her. Holy crap! She never expected her monotonous life to change this drastically! Although, she secretly suspected otherwise…

Wow! She is one special babe… a Key! Who knew? Although, from all the weird dreams she’s had over the years, they all seem to be telling her something. But what? Gabe has sworn to protect her. He is on probation, of sorts, and his time spent with Cassie is his ticket to freedom. Together, they are out to kick some butt and foolishly get into some questionable predicaments. Not only that, they are inexplicably drawn to one another with the sparks literally flying! Gabe is really one spine-tingling dude! First, they must rally up some rather dubious characters for their help but some bring serious trouble. Who can they trust? Time is ticking down. What will happen to Cassie when she fully comes into her powers? Will Gabe be able to protect her?

A TOUCH OF DARKNESS is an enthralling, fast-paced tale filled with sexual and social tension, as well as searing flashes of inventiveness depicting good versus evil. Does Cassie, who is an important Key to all realms in the world, come out alive? With more grim, devilish characters than I can count, who pose seriously dripping, scary evil, are there any Glenda good witches left out there in the world? A TOUCH OF DARKNESS scarily depicts the darkness in fallen angels. Cassie must watch out and use her best instincts when it comes to trusting the right people in this story. The author team of Ms. Casale and Ms. Moss offer up a twisted tale, spellbindingly written, and pull out all the stops in this ‘catch-me-if-you-can’ tale. It’s ripe with a romance of sorts along with a tale so exhilarating that it breaks down boundaries. Wow, I was breathless after the hair-raising drama in Las Vegas! Cassie doesn’t take Gabe’s advice to stay put and has all hell and tarnation racing after her! Intense, devious and gripping are the indelible hallmarks that deftly round out this sensational story, which is the first in the KEY series of books. There are a lot of clues thrown out that aren’t explained. Guess we all have to buy the next book! A TOUCH OF DARKNESS is wise-cracking smart, eerily spooky, trendy and unputdownable!
