In “Albobonnae’s Way” by Bella Rayne, one cannot help but become completely immersed in the intense storyline. We are immediately introduced to one of the main characters, Serena, who tells of her heartache of losing her husband of ten years, Toby, to a car accident. Even though a year has passed, she is still suffering the loss and truly does not know how to move on. Her friends and her Aunt Sylvie all try to help her through her depression and try to assist Serena to move on with her life, even if only just little steps. When Aunt Sylvie asks Serena to come to Scotland for an extended stay with her at Castle Fay, Serena jumps at the opportunity, as she has done so many times in the past. Castle Fay feels like a second home to Serena, and there is something about the castle and land that truly resonates with her soul. After arriving in Scotland and eagerly looking forward to being picked up by her aunt, she is instead greeted by Sylvie’s good friend and local Scotland’s police officer, Donnie. Serena immediately knows something is wrong and she may be the only one who can get to the bottom of where Aunt Sylvie has disappeared to.

I have to say that I was drawn into this story right from the start. When Serena spoke of Castle Fay, it always sounded magical. Once she arrived to spend an indefinite amount of time with Aunt Sylvie in hopes of finally being able to move on with her life, I felt that Castle Fay may very well be the key to help Serena finally heal her broken heart. It wasn’t until one crazy occurrence after another started happening, I had to wonder if staying at Castle Fay was the smartest move after all.

Ms. Rayne kept me guessing throughout the entire story about just what happened to Aunt Sylvie and why all these crazy things kept happening to Serena and her friends. Just when I was certain I knew what happened to Aunt Sylvie, another twist was added by the author and my theory was tossed out the window. I honestly kept guessing right up to the very end.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this story and being taken on the adventure ride Ms. Rayne penned for her readers to enjoy. As I was reading the story, the way the author chose her words to describe the situations unfolding or even the description of the magical landscape she wrapped around her storyline, I was so engrossed that I felt I was there in person experiencing everything firsthand myself. “Albobonnae’s Way” by Bella Rayne is a book you can definitely get lost in easily for a few hours. I would say this is a book that would be good for adults because there is quite a bit of sexual references throughout the story.
