All The Characters by Golden November is the latest book based on the unique Milestoneville book series, which follows an eclectic cast as they plow through the eccentricities in their lives. To be clear, these eccentricities are almost entirely of the characters' own making. This is a larger installment than the previous books which means readers actually get to spend slightly more time in each scene and scenario as well as expand on what November delivers. Readers unfamiliar with the formatting style that is the personal stamp of the author, prepare yourselves for a treat. November has a modus operandi that is the true consistency across all of the books. The novels are dialogue only and parceled out by character with the intent of different readers acting out, or reading the story out loud. Where descriptive elements would normally be, November includes full-color photography to depict a scene to put the focus on the cast and cut the fat on everything else, except the fun.

My favorite scenes in all of the Golden November books land, quite literally, in a recurring category, and I was so pleased that All The Characters carried on with the tradition and even added a few for good measure. In every book, someone is always in the air, and a lot of times that person is in a ridiculous extreme sporting contraption that they are clueless about how to use. This installment has multiple! What are you in the mood for? We have traditional aircraft, helicopters, parachutes, gliders, flying cars, and hot air balloons, among a couple of extra surprises. Where would you like to land? We have in a tree, in a lake, somewhere a mile from where you're supposed to be but mysteriously near a hot air balloon...this story is your oyster. However, in All The Characters, it is the Twist and Twirl Granny who steals the show in an insane feat of aerobatics that you have to act out to believe. There is truth in what Willow says although it applies to all: “You're a mysterious, intriguing professional adventurer.” True indeed for the Milestoneville cast. Very true indeed.

All the Characters by Golden November is exactly that since it does feel like every name that has come across Milestoneville in print is in this edition of the series, although I'd challenge keen readers to see who isn't. November has gifted readers again with the trademark 'don't read, act it out' panache of the writing. The plots are appointed by scene and there's plenty to work with here so a larger-than-average-sized troupe of readers would be ideal. Some of the best bits are Click-Clack trying to name a baby anything that begins with Click, eight weeks of the wildest training for the GN Agency ever—and I see what the November did there—a man exists in the Milestoneville-verse with the name Professor Badday, JBT has a wife he married drunk at a bar instead of ordering another drink.

It’s all fun and games until Jarvis starts singing, 'Shooby dooby doo bebop.' Just kidding. In All the Characters by Golden November, it's fun the whole time, especially when Grandma invites someone on a mystery trip! Our readout for the novel was, as it tends to be now, a party game. We changed it slightly by drawing names out of a hat randomly and it was while having to comb through hundreds of pages to write down individual names that I discovered a flaw in the book's composition: it is in desperate need of a list of characters so selection can happen in full before the acting begins. I would have enjoyed the task of writing everything down if I had one of Chatsworth's famed pens but alas I had a lowly off-brand plastic, and again was wishing for November to supply me with names. The intelligent wit and turns of phrases that November is so skilled at were on point, and I got to play the part of Thorpe and let everyone know that the value of “my” rock collection was worth over twenty-million bucks. Overall, it was a great day. Very highly recommended.

This novel by Golden November in his unique script style where we, the readers, fill in the scenes with our imaginings and read between the lines. In this new series of exciting moments, witty banter, a ninetieth birthday party sends Click Clack off on a mission to achieve a lifelong dream and other events while in the process. 

Golden November always pens an interactive and immersive novel that’s super fun to read, and this new story is just the same brand of excitement as the other Milestoneville classics have been. I enjoyed Click Clack as a central character and focus for the tale. It was beautiful to see how this expanded into the broader drama in the town and brought old favorites like Flower Rose and JBT back into the story inventively. The inclusion of music and lyrics made for an engaging twist, too, as I wondered how those songs would fit and inject even more energy into the script style of the plot. The events of this particular story brought some exciting new vistas to the atmosphere and scenery, and as a theatre enthusiast, I'm always happily exploring stage and character this way. Overall, All The Characters will please fans of November and the Milestoneville characters and give them even more fun in their next reading adventure.
