Madison Gladstone has served in Congress for only six months when the story opens. Ever the pragmatist, she knows that as a new member of the House of Representatives she will not be able to make changes yet that will truly impact her constituents. Then one day Madison is stunned to find that her longtime mentor has committed suicide. She is sickened when she learns that he left a message saying that he did it to protect her.

Outside of Washington, DC, there are terrorist attacks happening worldwide that will turn the global economy upside down. Through the “wheeling and dealing” that goes on in politics, Madison will find herself drawn into a shadowy operation. On her heels is an eager FBI agent investigating the death of her mentor. What will she do with the information she acquires? Will she be drawn in corrupt activities? And what does the FBI agent discover?

The ending of the book left me confused. One plot line only works if there is a sequel. The other plot line left me completely shaking my head. I guess if there is a sequel that plot line could be picked up and continued.

All in all, the writing was excellent. It is clear that the author is familiar with the culture of Capitol Hill and its corrupt political activities.
