Annihilation of a Planet II
Antonion Borges, author
In 2251 the world is still a place of human greed that threatens the environment. Indigenous people are being turned out of their lands by corporations wanting the rainforests clear-cut so they can plant palm trees. Avarice leads store owners in Brazil to have beggar children killed when their presence upsets well-to-do customers. The Middle East is still roiling with centuries-old, religion-based hatreds. An android named Lawrence, endowed by his creator with a bit of the scientist’s DNA, busies himself stepping into these situations, despairing that he, a robot, seems to know more about love than humans do. Having rescued Lawrence from a corrosive existence on Mars, Paul Linsdale, the son of the robot’s creator, had refurbished the machine, never dreaming his father’s creation would set off on his own to search the world for love. Paul, to save his project, creates what he thinks is a duplicate of Lawrence. In effect he has created an evil twin, setting the stage for an epic battle between good and evil.
