Looking almost 70 years beyond is the dominance of one black man. This African-American man is the second black president, but the first American dictator. Welfare and globalization have ceased to exist – as has the freedom of love. Because Cayman’s regime has one main rule: Everyone must get married. The rationale is that marriage will ensure that the economy is productive, and that blacks do their part in a controlled government. Elise Dudley is fresh out of high school. As with all others at her stage of teenage life, Elise’s next requirement in life is to obtain a husband and get a job. In addition to the forced marriage, the law governs intellectual capabilities, limiting a person to a job that the government believes to be the best fit for society. For Elise, an ideal husband is desired to have, but she knows that under laws of the Decree, it is not her choice.
