MJ Woods writes grown up romance with a real story. Told in alternating chapters in the first person, she captures two distinct voices and manages to develop characters that are not cliché.
Alexis Greene has lost her husband. She is a widow and still in her twenties. She bitter and lost, out of balance. Aidan Pierce's life has been an elevator ride, starting out as low as one can be with a meteoric rise to both fame and fortune. He is bored, unsatisfied and troubled with night terrors born of his abused childhood."Life is a big bag of suck" for both of them and when opposite ends of a business deal bring them together, it's a slow, sexy sizzle to the finish line. Alexis is no weak and submissive female, and Aidan is well...perfect. Balance is what both characters need and it will be interesting to see where the next book takes them in their journey together.

I finished this last night and had to ask myself what the hell did I just read? This is one hell of a story. And it's not over. Yes, this is Book One in the Amped Series. ***Redacted for Plot Reveal*** And there is where my jaw hits the floor. Which is saying a lot.
Hard to believe this is a debut novel from MJ Woods. Her writing is smooth and the book pretty much has it all. There's a nice steam factor going on here too. Can't leave that out.
Yes you should read this book! Then pass it to a friend.
I am more than ready for Book Two.

I struggled between giving this book a 4 or a 5 star rating because there was one event near the end that felt a bit contrived and also another event that felt like an over-reaction by the Heroine. Also, the novel ends with a cliff hanger - a risky move by the author as it could leave the reader feeling like they've been baited. In the end though, it came down to asking myself - how much did I enjoy the read and would I read this book again and the answer to that was a resounding 'I thoroughly enjoyed it and YES I would'.
