Ella J Phoenix never disappoints in writing a passionately conjured up world of flawed characters. The 5th book in the Dragon Heat series is set in the same dystopian world with the only exception that it targets new characters in their fresh dilemmas. In a world bound by loyalty and so much hate, a flicker of love will have readers devouring page after page.
Dyam is the descendant of the Cherokee Shaman. He is also one of the personal guards of the Vampire King. His dark demeanor matches his life as he has vowed to never indulge in personal attachments for he believes it to be the worst of mankind. However, like any interesting story, along comes the beautiful water witch, Naiah, who not only books a place in the vampire castle, but also in Dyam’s heart as well. However, in the beginning of the book, she dies in battle. Dyam doesn’t know that Naiah is actually being resurrected as a weapon and that too, by his enemies.
This is one hot steamy stack of papers bound together yet crisp to the core. A romantic novel through and through, it mimics the ups and downs of any relationship and transforms it into battle of the greatest supernatural armies in the world. Everything about the story is so real and relatable except the bit of magic which can be found to be ever-present.
This book will break your heart, and then fix it up again, only to tug at the stitches throughout the story. You will be dying to know what happens to the two people in love but not meant to be.
