Carnaval: A Wry Contemporary Mystery
S A Finlay, author
In the never-ending post-crash decade of London, a month or so before Brexit, it rains a lot, mostly on the young, as they try to shift for themselves. When young Honoré finds herself in thrall to the seemingly Machiavellian much older Gerald, a discreet hostess to bacchanalia held for the great and the good in a mysterious mansion, (yes, we know what type of gathering that is) she recruits first her reluctant sister, Luce, then idealistic Sam to her cause. It's the night of one of the notorious 'parties'. Enter Carnaval: a quixotic soak who should have been born centuries ago who promptly plunges those he knows into chaos. Why his exasperated ex-wife and permanently angry daughter, and, eventually, Honoré and her gang should care what happens to him, is anybody’s guess. But in uniting to aid him, perhaps they’ll discover their own true future selves and love stories.A gentle timely satire - a shot across the bows - Mind the Generation Gap!
