Teneca Meeks, author
Tia Calloway is a loner, preferring solitude and romance novels to human interaction. But her life is about to change profoundly when she wakes up one day and finds herself on an alien spaceship. The Equestrians are a dying breed of tiger aliens who've come to Earth in a last-ditch effort to breed with human women. They request one thing from Tia: Stay with them for seven days. Tia knows she should say no, but the allure of Ekale-the dangerously tall, alluring creature who takes up all the space and air in the room-can't be denied. A night of passion with Ekale changes everything, and Tia soon discovers that she is carrying his child. Dr. Diane Smith is a brilliant government scientist and physician with her own agenda: She wants fame, fortune...and she wants to be the Equestrian queen, but Tia poses a serious threat to her plans. Diane is willing to do anything-even commit murder-to get Tia away from the Equestrians before she gives birth to their future and kills Diane's legacy.

In Cat Eyes by Teneca Meeks, we join Tia Calloway as she is swept away on the adventure of a lifetime. This quiet bookworm's world is shattered when she wakes up one morning on board an alien space ship. As frightening as that is, imagine finding out that the aliens are the last of their kind and are here on earth to attempt to breed with humans to continue their species....and they want Tia to stay with them for a week. After spending a night with the smoldering and intimidating Ekale, she finds out that she is pregnant with his child, and that's when the fun really begins.

Tia was a somewhat clichéd character for the genre, being the average and "boring" girl who likes books more than partying or boys. Although these types of characters are a dime a dozen in paranormal/ sci-fi books, somehow Teneca Meeks managed to craft an original character out of the basics. Tia is just different enough to hold my attention. She is very immature but normal in her attraction to what is potentially dangerous or bad for her, and joining Tia on her journey of growth in such a crazy environment was really cool. Diana Smith was a much more captivating character for me, but that's because I tend to love the villain.

Teneca Meek's writing style was very personal...almost homey in a way because you are inside the character's head without seeing everything that's going on. This was mysterious and gave a cool kind of suspense to the plot as well. Cat Eyes easily blends traditional science fiction with the currently very popular paranormal fiction in a way that lends itself to being a great read for fans of either genre.
