When rescued by the police after years of being confined in a basement, Freak was sent to her grandparents’ home. There the grandfather put the moves on her while her grandmother, with Freak’s mother, plotted to kill her. Freak, as a young child, was a victim of systemic abuse of a psychological, sexual, neglectful, and physical nature. Educators, law officers, doctors, emergency room staff all failed to help her escape her abusers. Freak moved alone into a cemetery outhouse with neither power nor water. There she survived brutal winters and summers. She attended high school down the road from the cemetery. Her classmates discovered she was unusual and bullied her. This is the beginning of the path taken for Alexandria to become the World Goth Queen.
