“Chateau of Passion” is now my favorite story in this series and it has all the makings for good storytelling. Medieval France? Check. Intrigue and politics? Check. Bawdry behavior? Check. Unrequited love? Check. A powerful witch? Wait, what? Oh yea. Monica Bentley does it again. If you enjoy historical romances that’s heavy on the period details and the characters, then you want to give this series a shot. You’ll definitely enjoy it. I should know. I did.
Chateau of Passion is a captivating romance, full of courtly politics and intrigue with a dash of paranormal magic. The third in the series, it follows the unusual love story between Sir Tristen and Tempeste while also updating us on the main characters of the previous two books.
The author presents a vividly descriptive setting, populated with vibrant characters, and creates a realistic slice of life in medieval France. Intense, emotionally-charged action drives the storyline at a brisk pace, and powerfully evocative love scenes will leave you breathless.
I read somewhere that people are neither devils nor saints, but we, in fact, have a little of each in all of us. I wish I could remember who wrote this, but this story brings that writing to mind. Tempeste, a witch, was sold by her father. She was trained to be a witch, and she abused her power for years. You can find the beginning of her story in the book "Tower of Lust." This novella tells us what happens to her and brings this series to a satisfying conclusion. Love can bring the best out of us, as painful as it sometimes can be. This is a very steamy book.
