Following a rash, life-changing decision, Joe concludes that he has hit rock bottom. Although he has escaped a torturous existence, he finds himself alone and without purpose. Wandering aimlessly, he happens upon an entrancing, jubilant setting. Uncertain about whether to encroach, a beautiful, majestic woman lures him in.
It is exactly the refuge he needed. The peculiar assortment of personalities he encounters helps him to perceive his potential as a friend, a partner, and a person. He realizes that his defining traits, previously dismissed as weaknesses and failings, are in fact his greatest strengths. Joe discovers a natural penchant for leading and inspiring and, as he begins to impact the lives of his new peers, sometimes unwittingly, they gradually contend with and triumph over their adversities. Joe, in turn, learns how to maintain and repair his own relationships, most importantly with himself.
“The writing in this book is gorgeous… Common Kindred is a novel that will help readers reflect on their choices and on the impact that others have on their lives.”
