On Halloween night, 2012, Zyion Houston-Sconiers, who was 17, and Treson Lee Roberts, then 16, carried a white-handled .32-caliber revolver around Tacoma streets robbing Tacoma trick-or-treaters of 96 pieces of candy, a cellphone, and a devil mask. Zyion Houston-Sconiers and Treson Roberts were tried as adults, convicted of robbery, and given prison terms of 31 and 26 years, respectively, for the robbery spree. In 1995, Zyion was born in a in a small urban section of Tacoma Washington called “Hilltop”. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Hilltop was a battle zone! The word "Hilltop" became synonymous specifically with Tacoma's gang problems, and more generally with urban pathologies associated with the US's crack epidemic. Being born into this situation, Zyion had a small chance of a “normal up bringing” and was influenced by his environment. Gangs, drugs, violence, and abuse were all part of young Zyion’s world! From physical abuse to mental abuse, drugs, and foster care, Zyion has seen most of the ugly side of humanity and going through this at such a young age, had put him on the wrong path of life. Facing a lengthy jail sentence, Zyion turned his life around and started to learn how to live life better, more constructive and as a contributing person. During the course of his young life and incarceration, news stations, media platforms, judges, prosecutors, and observers have all told Zyion’s story from their point of view. In this book, Zyion gives you his own authentic account of his life story.
