This creative story line caught and kept my attention! Believable characters and an exciting plot as a modern day friendship develops into young love. I enjoyed how historical events were blended into the eerie, witchcraft-filled chapters. Rush describes what the characters are seeing and feeling so smoothly that I felt I was right beside them on the enchanting, hot and humid South Carolina coast. The length of the book wasn't overwhelming. It flowed so well I didn't realize I was nearing the end. Hoping for a book 2 real soon because I have to see what becomes of Coralee, Ben and the elusive Keepers after this wild ride!
Curses Beneath Her Feet
Caitlin Rush, author
Seventeen-year-old Coralee Ayers has lost her place in the world. With her self-professed heart of stone, she finds herself uninterested in her future, even though she's graduating and on the precipice of so many "exciting" life changes. The only thing she really looks forward to is her lifelong friendship with Benjamin Blixt - and the almost-kiss that could change everything. But in the dark of night, a thunderstorm brings with it the mysterious Kira, a beautiful young woman who forces her way into Ben’s life - and Coralee out of it. Never one to back down, Coralee demands answers, and finds herself entangled in a war one hundred years in the making. Now, the fate of the world as she knows it depends on her faith - in Ben, in the unknown, and in herself. To save the ones she loves, Coralee must rediscover her place, and destroy the Curse that hides somewhere beneath her feet.
