This is the 6th book in the Alex Cave series and while I haven't read any of the other books in the series yet, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of this book. I would say you could happily read this as a stand alone. I do intend to read the rest of the series because this book was so great!! In this book, you deal with aliens, spaceships, time travel, the end of the world, and a deadly disease. I won't go into details for fear of spoiling anything but you will finish this book feeling connected to the characters and wanting more. If you haven't read anything from Mr. Corkill I highly recommend that you do. I received a free advanced copy of this book and chose to leave my honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars. Classic mind-bending time-traveling sci-fi!

This review is from: Red Energy. The Alex Cave Series book 3.: (Cold Energy part 2) A time travel thriller. (Kindle Edition)
Now that was a mind-bending story of time travel! It definitely was a fitting conclusion to the original Alex Cave trilogy that found a way to tie the loose ends together from the other two books, while leading nicely into the fourth (i read Book 4 first). Again, an adventure reminiscent of the early works of Michael Crichton (a.k.a. John Lange). Great job, Mr. Corkill!
This was my first Alex Cave book and I was blown away! I couldn't put it down! Now I absolutely must read the first five books!
5.0 out of 5 stars Epic and unforgettable, don't miss this one.

Wow! What a ride this was (or Alex will have). It's Mr. Corkill's best book yet, a wild roller coaster of events and the gamut of emotions from utter despair to unbridled elation. I can't write too much without spoiling the story for others, but I promise you that it is worth every penny. I am hooked on Alex Cave and friends. Kudos Mr. Corkill for the adventure of a lifetime (or two)!
This is an exciting sci-fi thriller, the 6th book in this series which I have read entirely. Each book is an amazing thrill ride adventure. Main character, Alex Cave, a geologist, is always determined to save the world. However, two human-appearing aliens, Vesta and Paul, arrive in their space module at Zane Simon's DNA laboratory. They inform Zane of a comet which is Earth bound, and it will destroy the entire planet. She and her partner want to save 500 humans so they can colonize another planet similar to Earth. Meanwhile, Alex Cave meets archaeologist Mya Austin who has discovered in a cave a 2,500 year-old drawing which predicts the Earth's destruction this year. However, the 500 people must meet certain DNA requirements and be in their best health. When Alex meets Vesta at Zane's laboratory, she has an instant dislike for Alex. And, Alex does not believe everything which Vesta has promised. He and his friends have to verify the facts about the comet, its location, and evaluate a possible realignment or destruction of the rapidly moving comet. This is a novel which will stun you. You'll love the characters, the fast-paced story line, and feel like you are joining Alex at his back to save our world. This is definitely a thrill-ride for you through our universe. Highly recommend this story which is suitable for all ages of readers.
When a limited number of citizens of the world are offered an opportunity to populate another earth-type planet, it comes with a caveat: Make up your mind right away, and by the way, the planet you are on won't be inhabitable for much longer. Alex Cave, intrepid CIA trouble shooter, has his hands full with an alien DNA screening process that appears to be the ultimate racist action before the planet dies. Can genocide be avoided? Will earth become an uninhabitable rock? Corkill once again delivers an action-packed thriller full of aliens, alien artifacts, and a scope of unimaginable proportions. I was hooked from the first chapter and enjoyed the story from end to end. As with the other Alex Cave novels, this one is well worth a read. Thumbs up.
Wow! - I was blown away by this [ARC copy] from the moment I started the first page of this 'what if...?' near-future-world fantasy by visionary author James L Corkhill.
His protagonist, Alex Cave (in his 6th adventure), is a worthy successor to Han Solo with a little bit of James Bond and even Captain James T Kirk thrown into the mix.
As well as being a [secret] Government agent working in the notorious Area 51, Alex now works for NASA as a geologist.
One day Alex is called in to meet up with his new Agency boss Holly, who has a direct link to the President. Later he visits Mya, a half-Sioux archaeologist who's working on a dig where
[in a nod to Jurassic Park], dinosaur teeth have been found; one is sent for DNA analysis, which dates it to 2500 years old. Following this revelation a prominent scientist, Zane, arrives, claiming he's the one who dated the tooth and insists on joining the excavation team. When Alex arrives he's also shown some nearby tribal cave paintings, before meeting others of the tribe, including Maka, a young woman straining at traditional values and rules.
After finding what turns out to be a spaceship instead of the revered legendary magic stone of the paintings, Alex and the others are stunned when an alien couple called Vesta and Paul (the Alien!), emerge and warn the humans that they must leave Earth, as a huge comet is heading towards it on a destructive collision course.
Can Alex and Mya save Earth by diverting the comet? Is Vesta and Paul's stated mission to save humanity true - or do they have their own hidden agenda? How is Maka involved in this outcome?
Will Zane help Alex or is he too involved with Vesta? What does Alex's second extra gene mean for him when it comes to the crunch? Will he be able to save his nephew Derek and the rest of his family and reconcile their differences once Earth is saved...if it is saved?
What happens next will stun and [sometimes briefly], amuse you, as Alex and the rest battle to save Mankind in this exciting, nail-biting inter-galactic thriller which I would highly recommend to lovers of apocalyptic sci-fi, spy dramas with a twist and strong female characters in a balanced mix, which will take you out-of-this-world!
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved this series

Absolutely loved this series. The characters are well written and the story just flows. It's an interesting take on alien intervention in the past and keeps you wanting to read the next page and sad when it ends
Wow! I'm new to this series. But if they are all like this one, I'll have to check the rest out. This is awesome. It has Aliens, time travel and Apocalypses all in one book. Fantastic detailed characters. The story reads smoothly and at a fast pace. Lots of action in the plot and well written. A few twist here and there to liven things up. I can't wait to read the next book. Thank you James for letting me read an ARC copy for an honest review. It's a fantastic story.
