Don't Call Me Daughter
Patricia Childers, author
Big city Chicago Police Detective, Ella Flynn, is summoned to the small town of Prosper, Georgia, when her father, Ray Flynn, is killed. A second murder amps up the investigation. Mayor Big Dick Wheeler’s son, Junior, is tagged for one of the crimes, and Bobby Dean thinks the burglar did it, but Ella has her own theory. She has to find Larry-with-the-Limp, because he has all the answers. Ella’s Police Chief wants her back in Chicago. She’s running out of time.
Going back to Chicago will leave her father’s murderer free to kill again. Jackson Lee Armstrong, the local funeral director, who has captured Ella’s heart with his soft, Southern charm, doesn’t want to let her go, and neither does Walter, her late father’s Bassett Hound. The only one glad to see her go is the killer, hiding in plain sight.

Great Pacing and fun story with a lot of intrigue.
Don't Call Me Daughter was a fun read and keeps you guessing until the end. Ella is a strong, yet vulnerable heroine who you truly root for to the very end. It is definitely a page turner with a lot of twists and turns until the very end.

A smooth cop tale with tenacity winning the day.
I liked this book because it broke the traditional gun slinging Chicago cop mold. It has a strong but real female hero who just wants justice. I hope there is a second book coming. I would like to see the characters get the chance to have more adventures together. A good read that works. Strong start for a new author. Well done.
