Dzvinya wants to surprise her mother with a gift for Easter. She ventures out into nature to search for something for her mother, but no matter how hard she tries to catch a cat, a bunny, or a bird, she cannot. On her way home she spies a hen sitting on her eggs. She remembers how her grandmother used to decorate eggs into pysanky. Dzvinya takes one of the hen's eggs and draws beautiful designs. She then dips the egg in many different paint pots. Once done, she too has created a lovely pysanka for her mother. Not only does she surprise her mother with a gift, her mother surprises Dzvinya with a gift as well.
