The topic of the book is a learning opportunity itself for children who may not have been exposed to Native American beliefs or events or the sport of bull riding. It is an enjoyable book sure to be cherished by many young readers.
A hearty mixture of humor, action, and life lessons, this children's book was a quick yet powerful read. The author did a great job of giving the bulls in this story heart and gravitas, each of their personalities shining through to highlight their own unique perspectives and views of the competition. The way the author was able to highlight the Native American culture and background into the bulls' story and showcase the importance of a person's heritage and culture as a whole was great to see as a lesson for children to learn.
The story explores these elements that Mother Earth has given to provide balance to a story that tells how the Great Eagle glides through the sky with a mission to always watch and always protect Mother Earth. The story is influenced by Native American culture which Foster honors through the imagery, bull riding tone and thanking Mother Earth. The story weaves from this big dance to scenes showcase the various bulls in the riding event and each with a personality that adds to the lighthearted tone.
