Elaine never listens to anything that grown-ups tell her. Despite the fact that this gets her in to all kinds of scrapes, Elaine does not learn. It is not until her grandpa's actions save Elaine from getting hurt that she realises her mistake and learns her lesson. Elaine decides that from then on, she will alway listen to grown-ups.
