Family Destiny
Jarrett Edwards is trying to get his kidnapped sister off a former cruise ship. Jarrett learns that the ship's duties have nothing to do with stage shows, fine dining, or tropical mixed drinks, they never disembark, and the ship never docks. This cruise ship is the private mega-yacht of a Brazilian businessman Carl Meyer. However, some of the crew members on the ship exist in an almost sleepwalking state. It meets a refueling ship as needed, and every couple of weeks, it meets with a submarine, all very secretly. The ship and submarine have had extensive renovations, but what goes on in its vast underbelly is for Carl Meyer and his top henchmen Sloan and Dietrich to know, and for no one else ever to find out—on pain of death. Jarrett’s ship chores are janitorial, which suits him as it gives him access to areas on the huge ship where his sister might be working. However, when he is assigned to clean up after an explosion and fire that has killed five workers, he discovers one of Carl Meyer’s dirty secrets, putting himself in grave jeopardy. Jarrett recognizes that the object that caused the explosion is one of five expensive devices for pressurizing carbon to make synthetic diamonds. If Meyer, Dietrich, and Sloan even suspect what Jarrett knows, he fully understands that he too will disappear overboard, like the corpses of the workers who died in the explosion and many others. Jarret is found out and utilizes hidden scuba gear and his access to outer entry doors on the ship to escape. All he needs is to locate a nearby watercraft, or he won’t make the 15-mile swim to the Galveston, TX shoreline. Jarrett takes the plunge and gets rescued by Richard Sanders on his dive boat, which is only a few miles from the ship. However, Sloan sends their helicopter in pursuit; Jarrett and Richard are taken prisoner at gunpoint on the dive boat. Before Jarrett is returned to the ship, another boat comes to his rescue, piloted by military contractor Nick Stowe and his business partner Pete Ianzano. Nick and Pete use their flare gun to scare the man holding Jarrett at gunpoint, and then use a flare to incapacitate the helicopter pilot, destroying both the dive boat and Carl Meyer’s helicopter in the process. Nick has his IT specialist Tom look into Carl Meyer and finds Carl has a brother, Victor. Nick sends two of his friends to talk to Victor, who explains what drives his estranged brother Carl. Their great-great-grandfather Karl had been involved in the theft of a cargo of large diamonds, but the shipment was lost at sea. Karl had kept five of the fist-sized jewels and passed them on to his descendants. Carl had always dreamed of finding the sunken ship, and Victor has become convinced that Carl is living his dream in the mega-yacht. Carl is fulfilling the ‘Family Destiny’ of retrieving the stolen jewels—at any cost. Carl wants revenge against Nick for jeopardizing his dream, and he goes after the things Nick loves—his wife Lynn and their children Andrew and Grace. Nick reciprocates, putting his wealth, extensive capabilities, and friends he calls family to stop Meyer. Together they take on Carl Meyer’s floating enterprise and save not only Jarrett’s sister but many others as well.
