5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud journey to 'near' stardom!, 19 Mar. 2015

I had the original hardback and later the paperback. I've read the book 3 times and it still makes me laugh out loud. If your a motorsports fan or someone who needs how to 'get right back up again' then get this NOW!
I was lucky enough to meet up with Perry and we became friends. There are elements of the story which are quite sad, highlighting the difficulty for talented British drivers to make it in F1 due to lack of finance. I remember meeting him on the pitlane at Le Mans when he had a real chance of honours driving for Audi - only for his team mate to miss the pits when due for a scheduled fuel stop! A typical tale of Perry's up n down world which is available to enjoy now on Kindle.

Fantastic read. Perry's story is quite unbelievable and puts the problems of others somewhat in perspective. The many ups and downs during his career (probably more of the later) and how he handled them are regurgitated in this book with incredible humour. Through some chapters I couldn't help but feel sorry for him, at others he had me rolling around the floor laughing! It's a great Book and I would certainly recommend it to others, whether for the love of motorsports or simply for a motivational and entertaining read.

Although it helps to be a petrol head to enjoy flat out fat broke I'm pretty sure anybody can take something from it because it's a tale of constantly overcoming rejection until you finally succeed. I wish I had that kind of never say die attitude. There are lots of laughs (shark attack gazette - I dont want to say more because I'll give it away - had me crying) and some sad times along the way but that just makes it very three dimensional. I will be re reading it soon!

A great read funny, sad, describes the frustration experienced, high highs and low lows. If you think you know about grit and determination, read this and you actually knew very little. It will teach never ever ever give up on your dream.
