Flora Investigates: The Case of the Missing Gold Eggs
Saloni Surah, author
Flora is a 10 year old detective living in Florence who has just opened up her very own Detective Agency.
She lands her first paid case to find a missing gold egg laying chicken whilst drumming up business in Grassina, where she sees a flying pirate ship; hears a gunshot; and a woman wailing. She meets a dithery hunter before finding Lucia sobbing next to broken chicken hutch because her much loved gold-egg laying chicken (Gina) has been stolen, along with some of her eggs.
The suspects line up: Lorenzo, the dithery hunter who wants a gold egg to set up a museum of animals he has stuffed; Sara the crazy cat loving neighbour who found Gina and gave her to Lucia without realising her worth; and lastly Lucia’s son Sergio who is a dancing, flying, cheese-eating pirate who has already been given some gold eggs but wants another to have gold dipped dancing shoes!
Flora battles cats, mice, a crazy parrot and a cheese-firing canon to eventually rescue Gina and solve this case. She is rewarded with a gold egg and a glowing reference for her new detective agency; whilst the culprit is arrested by the police.
