Fold into the wind
Daniel F. L. Endicott, author
Beginning when Dani was very young, she was told she should listen, and especially – she should listen to elders. The order was taken to heart, and every word offered was clung to like a precious pearl, taking what was understood at face value; that which wasn’t, tucked away to be unpacked, later. There were promises made through those years, and they were promises expected to be delivered. But then, Miami disappeared. The words of mystery and promise dropped to sudden silence – but never lost: Dani left when she was done with schooling, armed only with a tree to prove her worth, and determined to find the way back to Miami – convinced it was the means to understanding everything. Unflickering belief that it was necessary, to bring meaning to her life.
