On a windswept island off the west coast of Ireland a Grandmother (Nan) spends the summer with her grandchild (Wred). Their island Oileán Amhrán (Island of Songs) has long been a deep source of songs and tunes that have traveled the world and brought fame to Nan and her family. Wred is there to learn the family’s traditional skills… boat building and song listening (they do not claim to write songs but that they simply listen for them) and to study the Atlantic Ocean and its impact on their world and on the world in general.
