Wow! Almondie Shampine’s thriller is a gripping thrill ride with fascinating characters and an original plot. This book held my attention from beginning to end!
What price would you pay to see your future, your outcome, your potential for success or failures? This fusion of scifi, fantasy, futuristic thriller is the perfect answer to that ominous question. Instead of delivering a cookie-cutter plot that leaves the reader fully but unrealistically fulfilled, "Glimp$es" provides an alternative. It is a story that intertwines the power of choice and decision, as well as the illusion of these qualities. If you're looking for a unique read that keeps your mind engaged and guessing, Shampine's imaginings do just that. Recommended
An intriguing psychological spin on the Dorian Gray concept in which several characters are given the opportunity to "see" a snapshot of their future for a price -- a million dollars -- although the real price turns out to be much higher. Common threads run through the various subplots: wealth vs happiness, the debilitating effects of substance abuse, infidelity and excess on relationships, and the way our daily choices affect our future. The author does a fine job of building and blending stories, constructing strong, believable characters and pushing the narrative pace with well-crafted dialogue. If you're looking for a genuine page-turner with depth and substance, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
Totally unpredictable, thought provoking and completely gripping. This book kept me guessing right to the end. Just when you think you've got the plot figured out and know where the story's going, it twists around and something completely unexpected - and way better than you thought - happens. If I'm completely honest it did take me a little while to get into the book as it didn't seem to be at all what I was expecting from the write-up, but I'm so pleased I stuck with it. This is without doubt the most original story I've read for some time and I will definitely be recommending it to friends and family. A glimpse into my future tells me I will absolutely be reading this one again.
