Going Deeper does exactly that. It goes way deeper than most books on sex and porn addiction are willing to go. Instead of treating symptoms and offering tools to treat sex addiction, Eddie goes to the heart of the problem by addressing what causes the addiction in the first place. Dealing with our "inner child" is the only way to find freedom. The nine different types of Inner Child perfectly encapsulate the inner emotions that cause men to act out through sex and pornography. He lays out an excellent plan for dealing with our inner child and how to keep him under control. This is a must-read for any man who has dealt with sexual or pornography addiction.
This book is eye opening as to the why's of addiction. Why am I doing this? Why can't I break this cycle? Eddie answers many unasked questions with thoughtful insight. As a recovering addict of many years I now have the true reasons why I struggle and the triggers. A must read if you are struggling with addictive lifestyle
Eddie Capparucci speaks from personal experience and from having guided hundreds out of the compulsive cycle of sexual addiction. He knows that “just try harder next time” will not bring lasting results. His aim is to help strugglers look deep inside and discover why they feel a need to medicate and seek comfort by acting out. This book shows how false ideas which were accepted in childhood can negatively impact choices made in an adult’s present life.
Going Deeper is a book to be studied so that the addict can identify where he has gone wrong and what changes he can make in order to live a life worth living.
I have had the privilege of working with Eddie Capparucci for a webinar series in which he discussed all of the inner child "personalities" and how they play out. It was so helpful to be able to identify what "child" was in need of attention and how, beyond recognizing them alone, to soothe in a different way and make a different decision. It was also helpful as I recognized others "inner child" and could help nurture them rather than simply dismissing their actions. Eddie also did a podcast on Sex, Love & Addiction with Dr. Rob Weiss about this topic. Worth a listen
