This was a great book on how to introduce an adopt pet into a family with kids wanting different things. Great tool for those that want to put the idea in their kids heads that a new puppy isn’t always the way to get a great dog.
Hunny is a shelter dog. He really wanted his very own fur-ever family. So, when Mom, Dad, Alex, and Luna came to the shelter to find their furry best friend, I put on a good show. They especially loved it when I placed my paw on the glass barrier between us and I was able to high-five through the glass with Luna. After a quick get-to-know-you romp in the fenced yard of the shelter, I was bathed and checked over by the vet, preparing me to go home with my new family. That was big excitement, but even more fun was the car ride and the visit to the pet store on the way home. Oh boy! Was I ever being spoiled!

The funny antics of this playful puppy will have young readers laughing along and falling in love with this charming little four-legged, furry friend. The bright and cheery illustrations go along well with the bright and cheery Hunny and his new family. The story, which we learn at the end, is based on the author’s beautiful Hunny dog. The message is clear: to love and cherish each other, to care for one another, and, most importantly, to show gratitude. Hunny clearly did all of those things, showing particular gratitude for being chosen and being loved by a wonderful family. There is even a page for the young reader to list the things they are grateful for.
