In I Came upon Coyotes, Carol Creelawn shows us the joys of paying attention to the wild world around us, articulating a sympathetic and sometimes playful view on topics as varied as love, death, divine architecture, and that small lizard under the picnic table.

Carol Creelawn invites us to share a range of emotions that pulls us into her world. She loves and respects nature, and shows man's disregard for the environment. In " Pond's Past" she talks of men who " poured asphalt over its (the (forest) beating heart ".In " Roscoe " she shares D.H.Lawrence respect for snakes and challenges us to do the same.I especially like the poem which gives the Collection its title. Her she plays with creating tension by the use of repetition. Througout the poem, she uses four words seven times each - "four", "evoking", "ancient" and "embers" and we are left to ask why.If you like poetry, this is a must read (five stars).

Goodreads

This was a rather intimate walk with the author where she shares her feelings and views through her poems. Sometimes beautiful. Sometimes stirring. Incredible how the fewest of words can cause one to reflect so.

Will look for more of the author's works. Good stuff.
