Readers' Favorite

In The Shadow of The Water Tower is a beautiful novel.  It contains pleasant memories of a past that is almost forgotten, greed, sadness, and old grievances that are never forgotten.  the author writes a wonderfl original drama in first person narrative.  Kirby has a comforting writing style that I like, and his wry humor is visible throughout the interesting content.  this book has a natural feel as the author includes a few of his own nostalgic tales filled with mixed emotions. - Reviewed by Michelle Stanley for Readers Favorite (5 Stars).

This debut novel by Alan Kirby is an inspiring story about an amazing and very unexpected act of generosity that profoundly touched the life of two brothers and would go on to touch an entire community for a very long time to come.  Kirby created an amazing story with an original plot and characters that are very memorable and easily relatable.  In The Shadow of The Water Tower is an inspirational story with full doses of humor and drama and I really enjoyed it. - Reviewed by Faridah Nassozi for Readers' Favorite (5 Stars).

Alan Kirby is a gifted storyteller.  Through the memories of Joe and Darren Kelly the past comes to life, transporting the reader into simpler times.  The bond between these brothers is written masterfully.  There is a large cast of minor characters, each adding flavor to the plot scheme.  Kirby writes the history of small town America with grace and charm, while weaving in the challenges that small communities face in the 21st century.  In The Shadow of The Water Tower is an excellently written story about life, then and now. - Reviewed by Cheryl E.
