Juliette and the Monday ManDates
Juliette Gustafson is heart-broken after waiting nearly ten years for a proposal from her boyfriend that never came. Determining she isn’t “getting over Mike” quickly enough, her three younger sisters come up with The Monday ManDates; an intervention plan requiring Juliette to endure what turns out to be a series of remarkably disastrous blind dates. Between TheraPaul, Frisky Frank, TAZ the rock star, and the stoic Tim Larsen, the Monday ManDates are doomed from the start. Then there’s Victor Jarrett, the police officer with an affinity for pulling Juliette over when she’s at her very worst. But no one is more surprised than Juliette when she meets the one man who can right the wrongs in her past and change her future, if she will only let herself fall in love with him. Juliette and the Monday ManDates is written from a Christian worldview.
Reviews
This first in the Gustafson Girls Series introduces four grown sisters whose lives were changed when they lost their parents to a drunk driver. Fifteen years later, as the story opens, Juliette is dragging through life, unwilling to move on months after breaking up with her longtime noncommittal boyfriend. Her sisters pressure her into a series of weekly blind dates, a ploy that begets humorous run-ins with local law enforcement, a Christian rock singer, and a nosy neighbor. When her faith and love life are reignited, Juliette suddenly goes from bland to colorful. How will these changes play out, especially within the sister quartet? While mostly light and humorous with a sweet romance story, the plot also touches on more serious topics such as forgiveness, family dynamics, and depression. A clear Christian message of salvation permeates the second half of the book, but genuinely funny and moving moments are scattered throughout. Doughty (Elderberry Croft Collection) has created likable, memorable characters that women will easily relate to, and fans should anticipate follow-up stories for the three remaining sisters. Juliette and the Monday ManDates (great title!) was heartwarming, encouraging, and hysterical. I snorted a few times as I tried to hold back my laughter so that my husband wouldn't ask the question that most readers hate to hear, "What's so funny?"

It was a pleasure to read about Juliette, her journey of faith and forgiveness, and her path to romance!

Fun Book About Four Sisters!

best be described as "women's fiction." Romance is certainly present, but the relationships among family members are featured even more prominently. The bonds of friendship are also emphasized, as Juliette interacts with long-time friends as well as new, unexpected ones. The book could also be described as Christian fiction, though I think it could be enjoyed by persons of any faith.... strong elements of humor. It is not the type of humor that will have you falling out of your chair in laughter, but rather a light touch that makes you chuckle in many places throughout the book. Overall, Juliette and the Monday ManDates is a delightful and fun read that will leave you wanting more. I cannot wait until the next installment of the series!
