Time travel is a fascinating concept. Sometimes, I wonder what it'd be like to travel to the future and witness all the marvelous inventions that would have been made or go back to the past and have a firsthand experience of what happened in the past. LingerLust by Matt Smart is a sci-fi/fantasy based novel that explores the subject of time travel.

It is the year, AD 2019. Charlie Anderson is fired from his job for uploading a client's bank information on social media. The news is surprising to him because he has no recollection of doing so. He also has no idea why his girlfriend, Noelle, won't talk to him again. On his way back to his flat, he stops at The Timber-yard Cafe where he comes across a message to meet someone outside. Outside the coffee shop, he meets someone who would easily pass as his twin or doppelganger. They head back to his place where the stranger named Zee tells him that he is in danger from an organization called The Logistics of Interplanetary Nucleosynthesis and General Elemental Research, or L.I.N.G.E.R. Grab a copy of this book and journey with Charlie as he travels to the future and back in time encountering Socrates, Abraham Lincoln, and even the Titanic in a bid to save humanity.

The storyline of this book was just so compelling and captivating. I enjoyed reading every second of it. The details concerning time traveling were fascinating and believable. Details like sending a satellite back in time to help with specificity and accuracy made the concept look very real. The book also had a real-life setting. The book is well-researched. The details concerning the past were accurately given. This shows that the author has good knowledge of history or made good research before writing the book. The adventurous nature of the story also made the book very interesting. Reading about Charlie meeting Socrates, Plato, Abraham Lincoln, and even boarding the Titanic was exhilarating. I would describe this novel as a masterpiece. One might say that my opinion is biased when I say this is the best novel I've read this December because I happen to love sci-fi novels so much. Nevertheless, I'm quite sure it's well deserving of the accolade because I have come across a few interesting sci-fi novels this month, but none that took my breath away like this did.

There was absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. I loved how the time and places where each event occurred were detailed. This made the storyline flow very smoothly and aided easy comprehension. I've come across some time travel novels that had their events arranged in a disorderly manner, which made the storyline very hard to understand. This was not the case here. The book was action-packed. It also had the elements of surprise and suspense. The characters in the book include major and minor characters that were well-developed. The scenes were also well-developed. My favorite character in the book is Zee. I loved his humor, resilience, and intelligence.

The book was professionally edited. Though, I did come across a few errors while reading it. But, they were minor errors and didn't affect my reading comprehension. I love the author's style of writing. It was engaging and original. I'm therefore rating LingerLust by Matt Smart 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi novels.
