Wonderfully written and illustrated! As firefighter wife and a mother to two small boys, I know firsthand the difficulty of when Daddy goes on a strike team for weeks at a time. My boys love this book and are constantly asking me to read it to them! I think it brings them comfort when Daddy is away at work. A must-have for any firefighter family (or for any children who love all things firefighter)!

A view of firefighters family dynamic during deployment.
A very touching book. A sweet point of view from the child’s eyes. It’s easy to be overwhelmed as a firefighter and forget the battle at home being fought simultaneously. My 10 and 12 year olds loved it and talk about it now and again, which is kind of therapeutic for them when I need to leave for extended periods of time.
