No Good Deed: A Jack Hart Mystery

Adult; Mystery/Thriller; (Market)

What would you do if your best friend were charged with first-degree murder?   Jack Hart and Harmony Piper are young civil litigators at a large Seattle law firm. They know they are in over their heads when their friend Mark is charged in a police-involved shooting.   Jack and Harmony search for a defense for Mark while racial tension rips the city with riots and fast-tracks Mark's prosecution. Top brass in the Seattle Police Department and Mark's father seem to have their own reasons for pushing for conviction.   In this second installment of the Jack Hart mystery series, Jack's and Harmony's loyalty and legal skills are tested as never before.

Amazon Reviewer

"Great, Fantastic, Exciting . . . .  Such a twist, turn and twist again story. Couldn't put it down."

Kirkus Reviews

“In the second legal thriller in Reeve’s (All Good Things, 2018, etc.) series, drug dealers, corrupt cops, and a murder keep Seattle attorneys Jack Hart and Harmony Piper on their toes. . .  An engaging tale with plenty of miscreants, sharp prose, and enjoyable characters.”

"This story is fast-paced and enjoyable. Although I haven't read the first book in the series, I was able to follow everything that was happening. The author referenced prior events throughout the story, therefore I was able to piece together anything I wasn't clear about. The story was well-written and kept me intrigued the entire time. The author's legal background is apparent throughout the details in this novel, especially during the trial scenes.

"Jack, Harmony and Mark are likable characters that grew and developed throughout the story. The relationships and many connections Mark had within the police force and his father's business were interesting and well-planned. I also enjoyed reading about a main character, Harmony, who was a strong, intelligent woman.

"This book had many exciting twists that kept me engaged the entire time. I couldn't find anything not to like about this one."

Readers' Favorite

"This is the third book I’ve read in the Jack Hart series and author Rosemary Reeve keeps up the pace, thrills and excitement in No Good Deed. I have loved all of them so far and I’m looking forward to reading the last one. While there is plenty of action with bodies falling at regular intervals, the violence is not gratuitous. The characters are so real you feel you know them and care about them. The twists and turns take the reader by surprise; nothing is what it seems. I checked out the author’s biography and I was not surprised to see she is an attorney and her knowledge of the law makes this series very authentic. I particularly enjoyed the courtroom scenes, as Harmony takes on the role of defence for Mark despite the fact she has only worked in corporate law. The attention to detail is impressive. I can’t recommend this series highly enough."

Seattle Book Review

"No Good Deed's clever, well-crafted and ultimately explosive plot starts with the arrest of Police Officer Mark Oden for the brutal murder of Garrett Ryan. . . .  Intricately woven leading up to and through the trial, the story simply explodes after the verdict has been rendered. The monster twist late in the book will rock even the most seasoned mystery fan, adding to an already entertaining legal thriller and making No Good Deed a worthy candidate for any crime enthusiast's reading list."
