Nothing Personal
Larry Temple, author
My book received three 5-star reviews from Readers' Favorite - from a review: "When I think of the plot, characters, and even the writing style of Nothing Personal by Larry Temple, the word “creepy” springs to mind. That’s not a negative comment. Let me explain: In all the psychological thrillers I’ve read, never have I come across a creepier predator than Duke, trained by his even creepier father." "The creepiness quickly evolves into a thrilling page-turner you never quite expected and won’t be able to put down. The plot, characters, and style are unique. Very clever writing," Summary: The ultimate predator kidnaps seven women for a sadistic game of his own design. The women must fight for their freedom while serving as this madman’s messenger to the outside world. FBI agent Laura Spencer is thrust into the center of the investigation as she attempts to decode the messages. Do the clues lead to a killer from a generation ago or are they just a ruse to throw off the investigation? Every day brings more harrowing danger and abuse for the women. Follow this journey into the mind of a madman as he uses the truth to serve his own purposes. Some truths are meant to remain hidden…

"When I think of the plot, characters, and even the writing style of Nothing Personal by Larry Temple, the word “creepy” springs to mind. That’s not a negative comment. Let me explain: In all the psychological thrillers I’ve read, never have I come across a creepier predator than Duke, trained by his even creepier father in the art of stalking, kidnapping, torturing, and killing women. Duke and his father consider this father-son bonding pastime as playing games, and all games have rules which must be followed…no exceptions allowed.

In what he sees as a tribute to his father’s brilliance, Duke kidnaps seven young women celebrating the upcoming nuptials of Olivia. Over the course of about 3 weeks, what he does to these 7 friends is as creepy as it gets. Duke has been so well-trained by dad that he keeps the FBI running around in circles and when readers finally learn his identity it’s both a shock and, well, creepy. Duke’s dad would be so proud of his son!

Now one more thing, why do I say even the writing style is creepy? Well, just like Duke, this story creeps up on readers, slowly pulling them into the plot and characters. For several chapters you begin to feel like the terrified young women, wondering day after day when something will happen that explains their dreadful incarceration. But when Duke chooses to fill everyone in, the creepiness quickly evolves into a thrilling page-turner you never quite expected and won’t be able to put down. The plot, characters, and style are unique. Very clever writing, Larry Temple!"
