The Bhagavad-gita, one of the holy writings of the Hindu religion, is presented here as a story that will be accessible to children. It begins in long-ago India when Arjuna Pandava is about to fight a war and asks Lord Krishna for aid and advice. Krishna, the supreme Lord, plays the part of a chariot driver and describes to Pandava the workings of the spiritual world: "When your service to Me never stops and is done only for My pleasure, and when you are friendly to every living being, I will lead you from this world of birth and death." Krishna describes the soul's presence in every living thing, how all living things are part of the Creator, and introduces reincarnation (though not by that name). The eye-catching art is an amalgam of traditional Hindu artwork and modern photography. These montages can be quite dramatic, as in a tableau that traces the ages of man, beginning with a newborn and ending with a pile of bones. Libraries serving an Indian population will want this; others may find that it adds diversity to their collection. Ilene Cooper

My kids love it!!!

By Amazon Customer

I have always wanted my kids to have a good spiritual foundation. So I encourage them to read the scriptures from different relegions and cultures. This book is designed in such a way that it would capture every one's attention with great illustrations. This is not a big book which is hard to carry. Only the essence of Bhagavad Gita is described in this book in an amazing way. I noticed that after reading this book, my kids are showing more love towards the whole creation. I just love this book and I recommend this to everybody.

Core essence of the Gita for children

By Pat P-E

The book itself was a very simplified version of the Gita for children. Many times I discovered that the names Krishna and Christ could be easily interchanged with regard to the message, which to me solidified my belief that at their core, most of the world's religions share a theme of universal love and acceptance.

This is the BEST Gita!

By Bruce P. Gretheron

Seriously, sometimes it takes someone who distills a text to its essence to derive the diamond from the carbon deposit. This brief, beautifully illustrated version of the Gita really does reveal the lustrous heart of the great scripture as never before. I love this and read it over and over again.

This little book, for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, contains the essence of all great teachings!

I was looking for supplementary material for a religion class I am teaching. I needed material that was true to the religion but not above my audience. Therefore, this is definitely a CHILDREN's book in that it is the length that you could read it to your child before bedtime. It is a nice looking book that clearly communicates ideas from the Bhagavad-Gita to kids and novices. In the end, it worked well for me, but was shorter than I thought it would be.
