Pacific Wiretap
An engineering graduate student interns at a telecommunications firm to investigate a theft-of-service scam. His investigations lead to the discovery of a sophisticated wiretap set up on an undersea cable spanning the Pacific Ocean. The task of the intern quickly moves to how the wiretap was established, by whom, and for what purpose. He is assigned to the Company's cable station on Guam, ostensibly to fine-tune cable equipment, but quietly snoops on the technicians. When an Air Force communications colonel is murdered at the Guam Air Force Base, the intern realizes the scope of the wiretap is global, and investigating it further spells danger. He follows through on his assignment.
