A young woman (Leila) recognizes from a young age that she has exceptional spiritual ability. She joins a group of powerful spiritual leaders (Paragons) who help her develop her special powers. During this time she meets with a man who is her soul mate who unfortunately falls foul of a group of political leaders who are trying to implement a plan to robotize the population of the galaxy. Leila has to develop a very strong character, using skills she develops in the Arete Foundation. The adventure this leads her through a number of harrowing experiences on her way to achieving spiritual emancipation for her and her lover.
