Perpetual Gloom, a two rut-road on The Boloney Trail
Perpetual Gloom is the first installment of The Boloney Trail trilogy. The Boloney Trail Trilogy Logline The Boloney Trail trilogy tells a true, uncensored and unapologetic, story of three generations of the Hornbeck family as they fight to survive the Great Depression by serving the Lord and the Devil, only then to become involved in the dawning of the feared Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel in the early 1960s. Perpetual Gloom Synopsis Perpetual Gloom lays the foundation for The Boloney Trail trilogy, and introduces the main male character, Monroe, living in Arkansas in the 1930s. Monroe tiers of his father's religious hypocrisy after seeing his father rob a bank, and later put on trial for being a communist. In his late teens, Monroe steals his father’s horse and makes his way across the country. His experience along the way forms the kind of man he will later become. He weds a young woman, Dora, after getting her pregnant. Trying to settle into married life, Monroe begins to doubt whether he can live up to her economic goals and religious ambitions without surrendering his need for adventure.

Amazon Review

"Their story really grabs your attention right from the start. The accounts are vividly described transporting you from your world into theirs. I especially appreciated the historical notes and the attention to detail. The trials and tribulations of uprooting oneself from one area of the country to another and only being able to carry the necessities is something that I can relate to. This book transcends anything that I have recently read and did not want it to end. I eagerly await the next one. Make haste."

William Mike Kielkopf, Author, Journalists, and Language Educator

"Congratulation on The Boloney Trail trilogy, a story filled with memorable characters, indelible scenes, authentic dialogue, and unforgettable details that pulls readers into the scenes and helps them empathize with the human condition in a manner reminiscent of Steinbeck."
