Growing up in the Sixties, Ellie is a young Jewish piano prodigy whose life and dreams are deeply marked by the Holocaust. Her ambitions are stymied by her family’s trauma, and her relationship with her best friend, Izabel, is complicated by their emergent sexualities and Izabel’s latent narcissism.

At school, Ellie is confronted by Roy, a charismatic young man who is caught up in radical ideologies evocative of those that led to the Holocaust. Ellie is faced with the dilemma of taking justice into her own hands, as well as the costs of action and inaction, as she faces an uncertain future.
