This book has a great and refreshing story line that has you hooked from the beginning to the end. The characters have been well developed and the outline of the story is very easy to follow. The author does not just give a shallow preview of the characters but takes a moment to give them depth, an aspect that makes their experiences relatable. The story is based on different elements of the Old West, something that makes you learn a little more on their culture and experiences, making the book a whole lot interesting. In addition, the book has incorporated romance; a part of the story that shows the up and downs of a relationship which not like any other. I enjoyed this book very much and I am sure that anyone would too, especially because the author has use simple English that is easy to read, understand and follow the story.
I have always been a big fan of the old west either in movies or novels. While this book is a bit more of a romance than the ones I usually read, I still loved it. I actually would classify it as more of a Western than a romance novel even though love and passion are recurring themes in the book. The author incorporates many elements of the Old West such as wild mustangs, the U.S. Cavalry, references to the Pony Express, and a true depiction of what life was life for the Sporting Women or Soiled Doves of the time. All of the characters are interesting. Even a lot of the secondary characters have great sub-plots associated with them. I found myself really caring about what happened to them since I felt as if I knew all of them well by the end of the book -- which ended much too soon for me! This is a great "feel good" story that was fun to read and I highly recommend it.
I’ve always been a fan of westerns, and even more so of romance books, but I can’t say that I’ve ever come across a book that combines the two – so I commend the author for experimenting and trying something new, and most importantly, for executing in such an entertaining and unique way.
The main trait of this book that stood out to me is how well-crafted the relationship and chemistry between Travis and Abby is pulled off. This is the type of romance read where the main characters and their interactions with each other genuinely have a sense of realism to them, they seem truly dynamic and complex in a way that keeps the read interesting and also hard to predict – to put it simply, this is far from your average book with a strong romance influence.
As well as this, as I mentioned, I’m a fan of western books and I must note how well the author has captured the whole vibe and tone of the old west in a way that I think even the most critical fans of the genre will appreciate and be impressed by. The vivid, visually rich writing style makes it easy to become immersed into the story to the point that I personally found myself within the first few chapters. “Rock Bluffs” is a tale of adventure, hardships, eventual triumphs, and a love story that is far unlike many other out there in the genre. There were a few parts that I think could benefit from an editor, but ultimately I’d say the majority of the read is well-refined and well=-written, and I personally consider it to be a more than worthwhile read.
This book is awesome! I am impressed. The story of Abby Dalton is terrific. Lots of twists, great plot. The author must be brilliant. The characters are fun and have depth. I would like to recommend this book to everyone.
