Most books about the craft of writing fiction don't even define a scene, much less describe how to create one. Even fewer address sequels. Scenes are the exciting, turbocharged parts of fiction, driving the story forward. Sequels provide a breather, where the focal character can celebrate or lick his wounds and plan his next move. Together scenes and sequels help create page-turning fiction.
