Seeker of Justice is the second Detective Hardwick Novel following on from the novel 36 Hours by Author B. J. Woster. In this story readers reconnect with Detective Hardwick and his team who are slowly recovering from their previous failures, and who are determined not to let history repeat itself. But when faced with another serial killer, the team find this is easier said then done, and are placed under greater pressure to perform and catch the killer quickly as the body count starts to rise.
This an interesting and enjoyable plot that moves forward at a good pace and keeps readers engaged and turning the pages. In this second book, the author focusses the majority of the narrative on the antagonist, who is issuing her own form of vigilante justice. As we spend more time in the killers point of view the reader comes to understand the motivation and can almost empathise with her given what she has witnessed and experienced herself. This does raise an interesting point of view as to whether we would do the same had the tables been turned, and whether justice served should be the death penalty? The characters are sufficiently developed to enable a connection with the reader although I did find that my emotional connection was stronger with the killer and less so with Detective Hardwick, the main protagonist. But this, I believe, was the author’s intention and clearly achieved. I would however like to see the author add more internal / personal drama and conflict for Detective Hardwick and delve deeper into his psyche as the lead investigator in the case. The dialogue is credible and there are no significant editorial issues to detract from the story. Overall an entertaining read.
A psychological thriller that will raise your heartbeat! 'Seeker of Justice' is a wild page turner, projecting its female protagonist with emotionly vivid colors. Unorthodox and extreme from the very first page to the last, fuses suspense and crime under horrible stark clear skies!
