It is the 1980s, and Slax has a problem with sitting still. At school, he finds himself in trouble all the time. And, in Thursday's and Friday's detention, he is a permanent fixture. Then he has a run-in with a sadistic teacher, which leads the narrator to suppose he is on a downward spiral to disaster.
Slax by Robert E. Kearns is the heartbreaking story of a teenage boy who, in different circumstances, and with the right support, might have avoided the ultimate price.
