Song of the Vampire

Adult; Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror; (Market)

In 1989, successful rock star Quinn Forrester’s life turned upside down the night he was ripped from the mortal world and transformed into a vampire. Ageless, immortal, and forced to live in secret, he mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind his wife and baby daughter, Nadia. Eighteen years later, his now grown-up daughter, Nadia Forrester, is playing a deadly game with alcohol, promiscuity, and an abusive relationship. Their lives change drastically when their worlds collide the night Nadia’s band, Icedragon, plays at Quinn’s edgy Bourbon Street nightclub, Vampyr. Nadia doesn’t believe vampires exist in the real world, but that soon changes when she meets the club’s reclusive owner and makes a startling discovery. How will she react when she learns vampires are real, and Quinn Forrester is not only a vampire; he is her long-lost father? Can they help each other battle their demons, or is Nadia’s fate sealed? What is it that Quinn can’t remember about the night he was turned? Will the truth finally set him free?

After a traumatic encounter, a famous rock star abandons his family, fading into obscurity, until his daughter unwittingly walks into his bar in the urban fantasy Song of the Vampire (The Vampyr Trilogy Book 1) by K.M. McFarland. After spending a night he doesn't remember with a stranger, rock star Quinn Forrester awakes the next morning with an extreme thirst for blood and a future of immortality. Hoping to reconcile his new and abrupt transformation with his previously typical life, Quinn goes home to learn his wife has taken his baby daughter and left him. Someone had sent her photographic evidence of the night he can't remember. Making a clean break, Quinn divorces her and moves on with his life. No longer interested in performing, Quinn opens a bar, naming it Vampyr after his new appropriated life. However, one fateful night eighteen years later, Quinn's life comes full circle when his daughter Nadia walks into his bar to sing with her band. Once she knows who he is, can Nadia accept Quinn's unnatural lifestyle and allow him to be a part of her life? Or is it too late and too bizarre?

Song of the Vampire (The Vampyr Trilogy Book 1) by K.M. McFarland is a brilliant urban fantasy with a supernatural flair. It has an intriguing storyline with an unforgettable plot, and I loved every aspect of the story. Including an enthralling storyline, action-packed scenes, and well-defined, relatable characters, it is a captivating novel that I will not soon forget. Engaging and likable, the protagonists lead unassuming lives that seem quite natural, even though they are part of the undead world. It is a thoroughly enjoyable series, and I am looking forward to meeting Quinn and his family again in future adventures. Those who enjoy vampire books will not be disappointed, and I recommend it to everyone who is a fan of the vampire genre. Due to the more mature matter contained in some of the scenes, this is better suited for those who are young adults and older.
